Two-strand fetish necklace by Zuni Pueblo artist, David Tsikewa. This beautiful necklace consists of 45 birds and 5 animals for a total of 50 fetishes.  It is strung with handmade natural Santo Domingo shell heishi and has a silver tag with David’s name.  A wonderful collectible necklace!!  This beautiful necklace was purchased from Don and Nita Hoel in the 1960’s.

Master jeweler, David Tsikewa lived and worked at Zuni Pueblo from about 1940 until his passing in 1970.  He is known for his mosaic inlay jewelry, his fetish necklaces and his free standing fetishes.  His wife Mary, was the daughter of another master artist, Teddy Wehkee.
