Wonderful Sterling Silver Hopi Overlay Starblower Pendant by Victor Coochwytewa(deceased).  Hallmarked by artist and the Kopavi International stamp. Victor was the first to make jewelry using the Starblower symbol.  It is a personage who blows stars stars through a flute-like object.  According to Zena Pearlstone, in her book Hopi Gold Hopi Silver – 12 Contemporary Jewelers, “Even though Coochwytewa explained little about the Starblower, he was very specific that the worthy brings light into darkness”.   Victor Coochwytewa Silver Starblower Pendant

Victor Coochwytewa was a master artist and metal smith from Hopi.  He was born in 1922 and died in 2011.  He began working in 1946, after returning from the war, learning his craft from Paul Saufkie and Fred Kabotie.  Victor was one of the first Hopi to texture the background of his designs.
