Sterling Silver Pin~Pendant by Mike Bird Romero of a figure that Mike calls “Star People” holding a gold snake. The figure has 14kt gold eyes, a gold snake and a gold heart spiral. It measures 4-1/4″ long x 2-3/4″ wide including snake. There is a wonderful write-up about Mike in the book, Southwestern Indian Jewelry, by Dexter Cirillo with this figure prominently featured on the cover.
Mike Bird is from the Pueblos of San Juan and Taos. Mike was self taught and influenced by Pueblo and historic Navajo jewelry. Although influenced by traditional jewelry, his work is his own distinctive style. Completely hand fabricated, he often uses interesting materials materials such as carved animal figures. Mike signs with two small birds.
