In 1985, Kris began specializing in lapidary work for jewelry inlay designs. She used a variety of stones from around the world. Much of the natural turquoise she used though came from local Arizona mines. Kris’s creations are unique and contemporary and sure to catch the eye of the passer-by. Kris comes from a family of artists who do mostly Hopi overlay style. She was born to Rebecca Draper(Navajo) and Eugene Sekaquaptewa(Hopi from the Village of Hotevilla) and grew up in Tempe, AZ. She began taking design classes in Architecture before developing an interest in jewelry making.
