This beautiful plate was hand-made and hand-painted by well-known Hopi pottery artist, Val Kahe. It is beautifully polished and painted. The dark red color of the pot is especially pretty and was achieved by Val firing the plate in an extremely hot fire.
Valerie, daughter of Gloria Kahe, comes from a long line of well-respected and highly sought-after artists. She learned to make pottery from her mother and she continues the Hopi tradition of native clay pottery, clay slips, bee-weed (black) and native firing her pottery.
