This humorous Koyala Kachina is holding a piece of cheese behind his back as a mouse begs for it.  It is Titled simply, “Koyala” and was hand carved by Hopi artist, Ted Pavatea.

Ted is the son of Tewa-Hopi potter Garnet Pavatea and was born in 1952 in the Village of Hano at Hopi.  He is a favorite carver of ours as his Kachinas always make us smile.
