Gorgeous Vintage Zuni Fetish Necklace by Mary Tsikewa

SOLD

Product Description

Two-strand fetish necklace by Zuni Pueblo artist Mary Tsikewa. The necklace consists of 60 birds and 5 animals for a total of 65 fetishes, and is strung with handmade Santo Domingo turquoise heishi. This necklace was purchased from Don and Nita Hoel in the 1970s by an Arizona native living in Sedona.  The Santo Domingo Turquoise heishi used is excellent and sets off the fetishes beautifully.  A wonderful collectible necklace!!  Mary Tsikewa Zuni Fetish Necklace

Mary was the wife of famous artist, David Tsikewa from Zuni Pueblo.  When you look at she and her husband’s’s fetishes, you will notice how finely carved and finished they are.  The materials they used were always of excellent quality.
