Five-strand fetish necklace by Zuni Pueblo artist David Tsikewa. This beautiful necklace consists of 130 birds and 40 animals for a total of 170 fetishes. There are 21 rare birds with the wonderful crest like a cardinal or blue jay and 14 rare birds have outstretched wings. It is strung with handmade natural Santo Domingo shell heish and has David’s signature silver tag attached. A wonderful collectible necklace!! This is the best David Tsikewa necklace we have seen. Master jeweler, David Tsikewa lived and worked at Zuni Pueblo from about 1940 until his passing in 1970. He is known for his mosaic inlay jewelry, his fetish necklaces and his free standing fetishes. His wife Mary, was the daughter of another master artist, Teddy Wehkee.
