Five-strand fetish necklace by Zuni Pueblo artist Lavina Tsikewa. The necklace consists of 151 birds and 13 animals for a total of 164 fetishes, and is strung with handmade natural Santo Domingo turquoise heishi. This necklace was purchased in the 1970s by an Arizona native living in Phoenix. The Santo Domingo Turquoise heishi used is excellent and sets off the fetishes beautifully. A wonderful collectible necklace!!
Lavina is the daughter of David Tsikewa and is still making fetishes at Zuni Pueblo. When you look at she and her father’s fetishes, you will notice how finely carved and finished they are. The materials they use have always been excellent quality.
